What implications does the rise of artificial intelligence and virtual reality have on public relations and corporate communications? Creative, problem-solving AI programmes promise exciting new opportunities for a new era of communications and as-yet unimaginable ways of delivering messages – what would a VR annual report look like? But, as we allow more and more decisions to be taken out of the hands of humans and given to AI programmes, we also need to contemplate potential risks.

The EACD Munich Debate will feature a diverse range of perspectives on this exciting challenge for the future of communications.

We are excited to share with you our expert speakers:

Ben Lampe, Director, Communications, Europe at Microsoft Corporation

Ben is the regional Communications Lead for Microsoft in Europe. In his role he is working closely with the different European markets as well as the Communications teams in the Microsoft HQ in Redmond, US. Prior to this he was Director of Communications for Nokia in Europe. Ben has 15+ years of experience in international environments including consumer, corporate, employee and change communications campaigns and media relations on global, regional and local level.

Kathleen Noonan, Director of Philanthropies & Education Communications, Europe at Microsoft Corporation

Kathleen leads Microsoft’s Citizenship, CSR and Education communications across Europe, driving multi-country campaigns including the recent Why Don’t Europe’s Girls Like Science or Technology? Prior to this she was Microsoft’s Communications Director in Central and Eastern Europe. Her career includes leadership roles with multinational companies including General Electric, Oracle Corporation and Gap Inc.

Alexander Schroeder, Brand-driven business coaching & consulting, Deutscher Markenreport on AR/VR

Alexander worked for and managed various leading management consultancies, media companies and branding agencies such as Accenture and Bertelsmann. At present, he is leveraging the influence of big data, artificial intelligence as well as augmented and virtual reality on marketing and sales processes to create new opportunities for organizations and brands to interact with their audiences – resulting in higher customer retention, new business potential and growing brand value.

Axel Loeber, Head of Branding & Strategic Projects, Group Communications at Merck

Axel is Head of Corporate Branding & Strategic Communication Projects of German science and technology company Merck. He led the company’s transformational rebranding in 2015 and is responsible for the current global brand campaign #catchcurious (https://curiosity.merckgroup.com). Before joining Merck in 2011 he held corporate and financial communication positions at pharmaceutical wholesaler and pharmacy operator Celesio, and strategic communications consultancy Hering Schuppener.

The event will be moderated by Marc Cloosterman, CEO of VIM Group and EACD brand leadership working group coordinator.

Marc heads up VIM Group, the leading international brand implementation consultancy. The group has founded the brand implementation discipline in 1991, and in Europe they have offices in London and Amsterdam. His passion is to advise, write and speak in the area of (re)branding and brand efficiency improvement, across touchpoints and across channels. Marc is a regular speaker on these topics and has written several articles. Marc’s ambition is to create global recognition for ‘brand implementation’ as one of the core process disciplines within the brand management domain. Marc founded the working group Brand Leadership of the EACD.
