Friday, 5 June, 15.00 CET: Keynote – Beyond the Horizon – Leading the change to a new sustainable future

Presentation by Ryan O’Keeffe, Managing Director, BlackRock

Linking in with the theme of EACD’s Annual Summit – Beyond the Horizon – Ryan will re-examine where we are heading post-Covid19 from the perspective of a global investment manager and technology provider which has transformed its strategic investment approach to focus on long-term sustainability.

BlackRock’s investment conviction “is that sustainability- and climate-integrated portfolios can provide better risk-adjusted returns to investors. And with the impact of sustainability on investment returns increasing, we believe that sustainable investing is the strongest foundation for client portfolios going forward.” [Letter from the Chairman and CEO of BlackRock Larry Fink to CEOs]

He joined BlackRock in October 2018 as a Managing Director in the London office, overseeing the firm’s communications activities in the EMEA region. He is a member of the EMEA Executive Committee.

Ryan was previously at Enel, Europe’s largest power company, where he was Director of Communications with responsibility for media relations, brand strategy, advertising, internal communications and digital communications at Group level. As a member of the Group’s Strategy Committee, he ran a team of 350 communications professionals in over 40 markets around the world and directed a full repositioning of the Group, as well as the development and implementation of a new brand architecture, with a modernised visual identity and a completely overhauled digital architecture. In 2018, Ryan was nominated by a jury of his peers as Italy’s most influential corporate communications leader.
