José María Palomares, Director of Communications, Universidad Europea, and president of the association Multinacionales por Marca España
José is an experienced communications, public affairs and CSR senior executive, passionate about innovation, digital transformation, stakeholders and reputation management. Professionally he has held different senior executive positions in multinational companies from three regulated sectors: Telefónica (Information Technologies), ING (Banking) and Laureate International Universities (Higher Education).

 

 

 

Mikkel Larsen, Communications and Policy Officer at the Danish Embassy in Spain
A Madrid-based Danish journalist and communicator, Mikkel has specialised in institutional communications and policy work as well as media relations. He is skilled in content strategy and creation for both traditional and digital platforms. A dedicated communicator, from interpersonal to international. Mikkel is is convinced that the power of words and stories are still fundamental to connect, engage, and make people care in the digital age.

 

 

 

Marcelo Risi, Director of Communications, World Tourism Organization
Marcelo was appointed Director of Communications of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 2018. He first joined the UNWTO in late 2006 to manage global media relations after working for more than 10 years in international broadcasting, as the economics correspondent for the Latin American service of Deutsche Welle (Germany), a producer with the BBC World Service (UK), and bilingual correspondent for the BBC in Madrid. As an economist specialised in development studies, he worked in think tanks in Germany and for the European Union before entering the field of international broadcasting.

 

 

To moderate our discussion we welcome Raphael Minder, NY Times Correspondent in Madrid.

Raphael has been based in Madrid as the Spain and Portugal correspondent for The New York Times since April 2010. He has written extensively on the financial crisis’ impact on Spain and Portugal and the resulting political tensions, including the secessionist drive in Catalonia. He has also covered social issues, like illegal migration and domestic violence in Spain, and writes about sports and culture, including the rivalry between Real Madrid and F.C. Barcelona and efforts to complete Gaudí’s Sagrada Família.
