Meet the speakers

Lorenzo Brufani, Founder & CEO, Competence
Lorenzo is the founder and CEO of Competence, an agency specialising in digital PR and reputation management. He has aided over 100 Italian companies, multinationals, and associations in enhancing their reputations through crisis management, media relations, digital PR, social media, and both corporate and international communications. In addition, he consults in sustainability communication and serves as a moderator, public speaking expert, crisis trainer, organisational coach, and counsellor. With almost three decades of experience, he actively leads business communication training, coordinating various Specialisation and Master’s courses at the 24 Ore Business School and IED – Instituto Europeo di Design.

He holds the position of Country Leader for Italy within EACD, the European Association of Communication Directors, and has previously served as the head of media relations at Borsa Italiana (the Italian Stock Exchange) and as the Italian spokesperson for TripAdvisor.

 

Vanessa Pavinato, EACD Board Member and Head of Communications at European Society for Medical Oncology
With a background in multilingual communication obtained in Italy in the Nineties, Vanessa freelanced for 8 years before entering the world of event management for no-profit organisations. At a time when politically correct was just a “label”, she helped organisations supporting people with disabilities change the public perception and obtain meaningful results. That marked a turning point in her professional life.

After one additional year as a consultant, Vanessa officially joined the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) in 2003, where she is Head of Communications. ESMO is a leading medical professional organization, representing over 40,000 professionals globally. Having worked for more than 20 years in the field, she has witnessed some of the most critical developments and evolutions that have impacted both the organization and communications.

 

Paolo Lazzarino, Partner, ADVANT Nctm
Paolo Lazzarino is a Milan-based partner specializing in intellectual property law, with extensive experience in complex litigation, including cases with cross-border implications, focused on protecting corporate intangible assets such as trademarks, patents, copyrights, and designs.

He regularly advises clients on intellectual property and advertising matters and is frequently involved in negotiating licensing, R&D, distribution, sponsorship, software, database, media, and advertising agreements. His practice spans multiple industries, including fashion, entertainment, marketing, technology, biotech, and design.

An author of scientific publications and lecturer in master’s programs at IED (European Institute of Design) and SDA Bocconi, Paolo is recognized by Chambers & Partners, Legal 500, and Who’s Who Legal as one of Italy’s leading experts in industrial and intellectual property.

In April 2023, he was appointed to the Intellectual Property and Antitrust Commission of the Milan Bar Association and joined the study group on the Unified Patent Court (UPC).

 

Giulio Uras , Counsel, ADVANT Nctm

Giulio Uras advises national and multinational corporate groups – particularly in the publishing, fashion, pharmaceutical, medical, and telecommunications sectors – on matters related to data protection, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and regulatory compliance.

In the IT & Data field, his work focuses on ensuring that business processes, systems, and products comply with European and national regulations governing the data economy, the security of network and information systems, and technological innovation.
